June News

June 16, 2012

Many readers who have enjoyed the MacKinloch Clan series have asked me–“Will Callum have a book?”

The answer is a resounding YES, and I’m pleased to say that it is now available. This was a unique book for me to write, since I had never attempted a silent hero. How do you write dialogue for a man who cannot speak? How do you convey his feelings for the heroine when he has no voice? It was a challenge I’d never attempted before, and there were times when I wanted to whack my head against the wall and say, “Michelle, WHAT were you thinking when you created this man?”

There was another point in the book where I had just finished writing the middle….and realized it WASN’T the middle after all. It was the end of the book, and it forced me to go back and write brand new scenes in the “middle.” Through it all, I felt an immense pressure to make this Romeo & Juliet story the right one for Callum and Marguerite. They were very special characters and deserved a strong story. I hope you’ll enjoy it! Early reviews have been terrific, and here’s one from Romantic Times Magazine that gave it 4 stars:

“Well-crafted, brimming with historical details and romantic from beginning to end, this is Willingham at her best.”–Kathe Robin

But there’s more June news! Once again, the Harlequin Historical authors have teamed up to give away a Kindle Fire (or highest valued Kindle in your country). Each participating author will have an activity planned on their website for their special day. You may be asked to comment on a blog, do a scavenger hunt, or visit a Facebook page. For each day you participate, your name will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.

At the end of the month on June 29, one day from the calendar will be randomly selected. One of the entrants from that day will then be randomly selected to win the grand prize of a Kindle Fire (or whichever equivalent product is available in your region).

The more days you visit, the better your chances!

The winner of my Beach Bag Giveaway was Kim Cagle. Congratulations!
